In the tradition of Facing Our Truth: Short Plays on Trayvon, Race, and Privilege and HANDS UP: 6 Playwrights, 6 Testaments, The New Black Fest (with guest curator, playwright Dominique Morisseau) commissioned five Black women playwrights to contribute to UNTAMED: Hair, Body, Attitude short plays that collectively dig deeper into the national conversation around Black womanhood and social perceptions of Black femininity by providing Black women a creative platform to personalize these issues. The playwrights include Jocelyn BiohChisa HutchinsonLenelle Moise, Nikkole Salter, and Cori Thomas.

Nikkole contributed two 10-minute pieces to the series - PEACE OFFICER PRIVILEGE and MAHAGONY CORPO, in effort to discuss perception of black women's bodies.  PEACE is a docu-drama about 12-year old Dymond Milburn's assault by police upon being mistaken for a prostitute.  MAHAGONY (not included in the collection) is a satirical piece that explores the exoticification, fetization and appropriation of African woman's physical features.

UNTAMED was first presented - free and open to the public - Monday, October 19, 2015 at the Segal Theatre, CUNY Graduate Center in New York City.  Future performances and publication of the plays will be announced to the left.
